As Valentine's Day approaches, many of us are starting to put together outfits that have potential for that special evening.

Here are my few cents on the matter:

1. Keep your hands free. You don't want to be fussing with your handheld purse if he wants to hold your hand right?
2. Wear comfortable shoes. No matter where you'll be going, the last thing a guy wants to hear is "my shoes are killing me". 
3. Declutter your jewelry. Unless it's part of your daily outfits, and you're comfortable with it, skip it. Guys aren't as fond of stacked jewerly as we are. They just don't get it. 
4. Don't overdress. Guys are simple - a cute skirt, and flirty top will do the trick. Let your personalty shine instead of your clothes. 
5. ALWAYS stay true to who you are, and don't let the butterflies in your tummy tell you otherwise.

These two looks that I've quickly put together (all pieces are 100$ and under) are based on the same flirty lace top and simple accessories. 

We've skipped the necklace because we don't want to take the focus off from the lace detailing of the shirt. 

For night time, throw on a leather (or PU) skirt to add a little edge to the outfit. Unless you're ultra comfortable and a pro at wearing stilettos, but still want to elongate your legs and give yourself a little extra height, opt for nude wedges. They'll make your legs look like they go on forever, plus you'll have less risk of tripping and falling flat on your face. The leopard clutch definitely ads a little wild side to the outfit - 'nuff said. 

This outfit is perfect for a dinner date and to get a little drink at the bar later on ;)

If you're going on a day date, be casual. Wear some red twills for the occasion - did you know that a person's heart rate goes up a very little bit when we see the color red? - and wear comfortable flats. I own those exact pairs of leopard loafers from Steve Madden, and they are the most comfortable things and give an extra dose of interest to the outfit, without overshadowing anything. This outfit is great for that movie date and snuggling at a coffee shop afterwards. 

Last little tip, leave the big bag at home, and bring just the essentials with you: 

• money, ID, the usual wallet stuff
• chapstick (want to keep those lips moisturized!), unless you're sure the guy doesn't mind lipgloss/lipstick, opt for a lip stain instead. 
• eyeliner and a compact for touch ups
• some band-aid ...JUST IN CASE you decided to wear those new pair of shoes that night because they look so fabulous.
