Jewelry Organization Part III

Continuing on the topic of organizing your jewelry - which can always be quite a hassle because until you find the right system, most of your jewelry will tend to tangle and mix amongst themselves.

I've searched the world (wide web) for other potential options that I personally found very interesting, and not too costly.

Most of these that I will show you can easily be DIYed at home. =)

DIY this concept!

• Purchase a frame of any kind to your liking
• Purchase an aluminum/metal mesh (you can generally buy this at the hardware store) or one piece of those perforated wood panels.
• Remove backing of frame (and glass top if there is any)
• Cut your aluminum mesh/wood panel accordingly to fit the frame (you can use the frame backing as a template)
• Put your newly cut aluminum mesh/wood panel where the frame backing would generally go 
• Secure the whole with screws or nails if necessary 
• To be decorated or painted to your own liking ;) 

DIY this!

• Buy an organizer of this type in the hardware/tools department in your local Walmart, Zellers, Target, Department store...
• Fill it up with all your treasures and goodies! 
• This is a great alternative if you have a lot of studs, and small nick knacks

I thought this was a super creative way to store your jewelry for a VERY low cost.
Ice trays! However, I do think that if you can find some that are square and not rounded at the edge, it would fit drawers a little better. =)

An even cheaper alternative to this would be to use the boxes that come with eggs!
Obviously, always decorate to fit your own style!

This is a BEAUTIFUL alternative to store your long chains and bracelets and even some earrings. Not the most convenient, but it makes a lovely display.

You can DIY if you're a little more handy with screws and such...

• Find a sturdy (and lovely!) section of branch. If you can find some that already fell from the trees it would be MUCH nicer of you...or the next time you trim your tree, keep some. Make sure the bottom part that you will attach to the wood base is VERY flat and sanded down nicely to that it will be more sturdy when you attach it.
• Cut off or trim off any excess twigs that you don't want on it or like
• Sand down any pointy or sharp edges (wouldn't want you to cut yourself in the morning getting dressed!)
• Find a solid wood base
• Glue your branch to the base (this is kind of self explanatory as to how to do it...I think) to secure it's placement.Use fast drying crazy glue to save time =)
• Get a screw that is long enough with a FLAT TOP (approx 2x the height of your wood base) and drill it from under, through the center of the branch.
• Voila! 
• If you want to make it even more impressive, spray the whole with silver or gold (or whatever color) paint to match your home decor.

 

This one's DIY resembles pretty much the one from the first picture...but instead of a metal mesh or perforated wood board, get a SOLID wood piece that you screw knobs and hooks on. =) 

This'll require that you're a little handy with drills.

 

This is a great alternative instead of the ice tray/egg tray. You can purchase these little containers are most kitcken ware stores (or department stores in the section for kitchen appliances and accessories). They're basically containers for herbs. What's fun about these is that they usually come with a magnetic backing so you can buy a magnet board (or white board from Staples) and just place them on it! 

Also, you can easily purchase more of these containers as your collection grows.

I really do love this one. It's just so pretty.
Again, it's fairly easy to DIY...

• Buy a pretty frame 
• Lay it on the horizontal so you get more hanging space versus the vertical. 
• Hammer in some nails at the very top (or just push pins will do too if your jewelry isn't too heavy) and hook your long chains on it!
• If you use nails, you might want to finish off the top of the nails with some kind of finishing so you don't hurt yourself with all of them sticking out. 
• Cute no?

I kept the simplest one for last!

• Go shop around your local thrift shops for SUPER affordable and gorgeous dishes, cups and trays...
• Place them nicely onto a pretty tray (I think they`d be worth displaying) or directly in your drawer.
• Fill 'em up with your jewelry! 

I truly hope this was helpful for some of you who don't want to splurge on a jewelry case or stands to keep your jewelry organized.
